Anthony Russo: Look at those character arms…
Joe Russo: We were focusing so hard on his character there.‘Captain America: Civil War’ Audio Commentary
I just want to point out the irony here—that as gratuitous as this scene is, it actually is character development. You can tell from the way Steve’s straining that he’s at his breaking point. He’s a super soldier, but there are limits to his strength and he’s teetering on the edge. Despite that, we one hundred percent believe Steve is willing to let himself get ripped in half here rather than let that helicopter go.
Why? When we all saw this scene in the first Civil War trailer, the Russos said Steve was fighting for a passionate reason. There’s only one person Steve would be fighting this hard for—Bucky. No one had any doubt. Seventy-some years ago, Steve failed to hold on to Bucky and it ruined them both. He’s not going to let him go again, and we see that internal struggle manifested here physically.
The interesting thing is—as heroically as this shot is framed—we can see this as valor or sheer, stubborn idiocy. After all, Steve is fighting a helicopter for Bucky and “Bucky,” brainwashed, just threw Steve down an elevator shaft and tried to kill most of his friends. The Bucky Steve is hanging on to here may or may not be the Bucky he actually wants to save. But Steve is taking a chance, risking it all on the belief that his friend is in there somewhere and if he can just hang on long enough, then they’ll both get through this.
It may be incidental, but the glowing lens flare here draws particular attention to Steve’s chest—assuming you’re not too entranced with his arms—and emphasizes where the core of the matter lies. Steve is being pulled in two directions and his heart is at the center of the conflict. If he’s smart and wants to save himself, it’s as easy as letting go (one hand or the other). But he’s Steve and this is Bucky and, no, he’s not going to let go.

See here’s the thing
If Bucky were trying to tell Steve he looked stupid, he would’ve said something like “Please tell me you’re not keeping that outfit, though.” And then Steve could have been like “You know what, asshole? I’m keeping it specifically to spite you.”
But no, Bucky asked him “But you’re keeping the outfit, right?” And it’s specifically set to contrast Steve’s prior status as a little guy from Brooklyn, not his prior status as looking dignified. Taken as a whole, the subtext is “I’m following the little guy, but you’re keeping the Captain America get-up, right? Because it’s impressive.”
And you know. If Bucky wanted to be speaking objectvely—like if he was trying to say “People will see you as more impressive if you wear the superhero costume”—he could’ve said something like “You really oughtta keep the outfit, though.”
But no. He phrases it as a question that sounds like he’s asking for a personal favor. And he leans in closer to Steve and asks it in a low voice to boot.
In conclusion a) Bucky is not heterosexual, and b) Bucky definitely has a thing for Steve in costume thanks for coming to my TED talk.
A little bit hesitate to post this one as it’s only in Chinese
This is drew for a poem.
It’s too difficult for me to translate those beautiful words in an accurate way.
I will appreciate if someone could help to translate it into English.
All right, here’s my attempt at translation, @xxxxxx6x. Paragraph breaks indicate panel breaks.
To the Oak Tree
If I were to love you,
I would not be like the clambering campsis flower,
Using your tall branches to flaunt my self;If I were to love you,
I would not be like the besotten bird,
Repeating the same simplistic tune in exchange for shade;Nor would I be merely the source of spring water,
Always there to provide support and refreshment;
Nor just the tall cliffs,
There to increase your height and accent your dignity.
Or even the sunlight.
Or even the spring rain.
No, those are not enough!I must be a Kapok tree by your side,
Stand with you as a tree.
Roots, firmly entwined in the ground;
Leaves, gently brushing in the clouds.With every passing breeze,
We murmur to each other,
Speaking words
That none else will understand.You with your branches of iron and your trunk of steel,
Like a knife, like a sword, like a halberd;
My with my red blossoms,
Like a heavy sigh,
Or a brazen torch.Together we bear the cold winds, the pounding rain and the crackling lightning;
Together we share the morning fog, the evening mist, and the rainbow.
We stand, seemingly separated,
Yet we will always be there for each other.Only this can be truly profound love, where loyalty and faith lives:
Love –
I love not just your majestic being,
I love also your stubborn position,
The ground beneath your feet.
Character study sheet – i will get there, i will find a way of getting the hang of their features and then i could not be stopped

So I was rewatching civil war and I’m laughing bc you know the part where steve just goes through one of bucky’s notebooks and finds a picture of himself in it and then the camera just pans to the side and bucky’s just standing there awkwardly like,,,, it’s so funny because you don’t even know how long he was there like either homeboy just got back from buying plums on his morning farmers market spree and used his assassin skills to quietly slip into his apartment all clandestine,,,,, maybe he had plans to bake some plum pie who knows but surprise bitch there’s steve going through his gay ass notebook like ‘wow good job barnes now he really knows you’re pining for him’ or he’s literally been in there the whole time doing god knows what and I just. I love bucky sm
